Traditional methods of teaching have been around for thousands of years and not much has changed over that time. And for good reason too: “Don’t fix what ain’t broke.” Right?

Wrong! Traditional methods might be good enough for a particular topic or a subject, but it is not the most effective method of learning. Here are 3 reasons why online education is here to stay.

AUDIOVISUAL AIDS:

The learning process varies from student to student. Not everyone can learn the traditional way. This is where learning aids like video (YouTube) and audio (Podcasts)  bridge that gap between tradition and modern innovation. We tend to learn better when we can visualize what we are studying. This is the sole reason why we can vividly remember our nursery rhymes but not NCERT Solutions For Class 6 Maths or anything even remotely related to Class 6 math. Therefore, it’s very effective when a concept is followed by a video or an illustration. Just imagine: A 2-dimensional space is easily comprehensible, and so is 3-dimensional space. But imagining 4-dimensional space is hard without a video.

LATEST INFORMATION:

Books can hold a large amount of information, but they don’t get updated often like electronic media. Therefore, they might usually carry outdated information and it might take a long time for them to get updated. Electronic media, on the other hand, can update its information as and when required. For instance, take any chemistry book older than 3 years. You might find the periodic table missing a few elements.

ACCESSIBILITY AND CONVENIENCE:

Traditional methods employ textbooks to disseminate information, but only a limited amount of information can be stored on it. If more information is required, we need to refer to more books. Furthermore, books are fragile and information stored on it might get destroyed. But with Online Education, data is always accessible and protected. All you need is a device with an internet connection to access thousands of books. The same cannot be said for the traditional method of education.
