Home Improvement Projects

While you may look forward to the weekend for fun and relaxation, it’s also a good time to knock out a home improvement project you’ve been meaning to do. If you’re wondering what type of projects you can do over the weekend, here are a few ideas to get you started.

Paint Your Bedroom

If you’ve been planning on painting your room but keep putting it off, the weekend is a good time to get it done. You can even start your prep work during the week by purchasing your paint, brushes, and other supplies. To save time, you can even put up painter’s tape on Thursday or Friday before your weekend project begins. If possible, try to paint on Saturday so you can rest on Sunday, if you need to.

Organize Your Closet

The weekend is a great time to organize your closet. For ideas on the best way to do this, search the Internet, watch YouTube videos, or look through a few magazines. On the day that you choose to organize your things, concentrate on pulling out old clothes to be donated and sort through other stuff that you need to purge from your closet. Continue by implementing organization ideas that you came across in your research until your closet looks exactly the way that you want it to.

Clean Out Your Garage

A great project to complete over the weekend is cleaning out your garage. With some planning, you can get an idea of what to toss, what to keep, and how you want to organize everything. If your garage is packed and you have lots of stuff to toss, contact a dumpster rental service to rent a container in which you can throw all of your trash. When finished, you’ll love how organized and clean your garage is.

Landscape Your Yard

You’re just one weekend away from having the beautiful lawn and garden that you’ve been dreaming of. Set aside a weekend when you can mow your lawn, trim your hedges, plant new flowers, and landscape your yard the way you want it. Then when you’re finished, be sure to take some time to sit back and admire the fruits of your labor.

Build A Swing Set

Add some fun to your backyard and surprise your kids by putting together a new swing set for them to enjoy. If you love do-it-yourself projects and want to build one from scratch, you can also do that. No matter what you decide, you’ll be able to complete this project in just one weekend.

Paint Your Front Door

If you’re thinking of selling your home in the near future, painting your door is a good project to do. While you may already have a particular color in mind, there are certain colors that could increase the value of your home. A study by Zillow found that some homebuyers were willing to boost an offer up to $6,449 to purchase a home with a black front door. Whether you paint your door black or choose a different color, it’s a great weekend project to mark off your list.

Pressure Wash Your Home’s Exterior

An outdoor project that’s easy to complete is pressure washing your home. If you don’t own a pressure washer, you can rent one for a day and use it to wash off the siding and gutters of your home. They’re also good for cleaning your sidewalk, walkway, driveway, and deck.

Stain Your Deck

Speaking of decks, another project you can do over the weekend is staining your deck. An important tip to follow is to check the forecast a few days before you plan to do it. Don’t try to stain your deck if it’s wet or damp from the rain. Also, make sure to stain it when the weather is between 50-90 degrees. Then later when your deck is completely dry, sit on it awhile and enjoy the view.

Knocking out a home improvement project on the weekend is a great way to get things done. It also leaves you with a sense of accomplishment as you admire your work.
