“Bob Marley: One Love” is the biopic on Bob Marley, which will hit the theater on 12 January 2024. A biopic on Bob Marley has been pending for a long time, considering biopics such as Rocketman on Elton John and Straight Outta Compton on F. Gary Gray were recent productions.
Yet, the reggae icon has not been serenaded enough! The biopic tries to makeup for old times. Kingsley Ben-Adir plays the lead as Marley, who also played some other significant characters such as Barack Obama in The Comey Rule and Malcolm X in One Night In Miami.
Rita Marley, the wife of Bob Marley, has been played by Lashana Lynch, while the biopic’s screenplay has been written by Frank E. Flowers, Terence Winter, and Zack Baylin. Others backing up the project are Orly Marley, Matt Solodky, and Richard Hewitt as executive producers.
Other cast members are in the film, such as Michael Gandolfini, Anthony Welsh, Jesse Cilio, and Nadine Marshall. The counterculture icon has been honored in this Film, and the Marley family is involved in filmmaking.
The film has been produced by Marley’s son, Ziggy Marley. “This message of unity and love is as urgent as ever.” said the son at CinemaCon. Ziggy Marley showcased a sneak peek of the trailer in CinemaCon and claimed that he was a producer and a steward of his father’s legacy.
The Film has been directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, who has also worked with Will Smith in Kind Richard. The trailer of the Film is based on the attack on Marley in Jamaica in the 1970s, further highlighting his philosophy, life, and legacy. People get a glimpse of the singer’s relationship with his friends, band members, fellow performers, and the audience. The parting phrase, “One love, one heart, one destiny,” continues reverberating for the audience from the trailer even after it ends!
