On Wednesday night in Los Angeles, Taylor Swift announced the fourth iteration of her re-recording project, “1989 (Taylor’s Version),” capping off the historic U.S. leg of her Eras Tour.
After performing a few songs from her “1989” album live, including a condensed version of “Bad Blood,” the pop icon made an announcement to the crowd that she had been working on a major project as she walked toward the center of the stage with an acoustic guitar in hand.
“Instead of just, like, telling you about it, I think I’ll just sort of show you,” she mentioned to her fans, as the screen behind her illuminated. “‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ available Oct. 27!” Taylor cheered. She also gave a rather numerical clue when people noticed that she had made the announcement on the 8th of this month about the 9th month of the year!
After this major announcement, Swift she broke into a surprise performance of the popular “1989” single “New Romantics” and “New Year’s Day,” the piano ballad from the album “Reputation” era. This was something that happened for the first time on her world tour.
Swift recently released a new version of “Speak Now,” and it quickly made her the woman with the most No. 1 album in history. Music manager Scooter Braun’s first purchase and subsequent selling of her early catalog served as the impetus for the “Taylor’s Version” ventures.
