However, there are simple ways that could help you to keep carrots fresh. All you need is a bunch of carrots, a sealed plastic container, or a large glass bowl and water. You could either peel the carrots, keep them in a plastic container or keep them without peeling. However, when keeping them in the container, ensure that there is one inch of headroom between one carrot and the other. Fill the container with water and cover the container with a lid or with a plastic cover. You can now keep them in the fridge and they will remain fresh and crispy even for seven days.
In the same way, you also can keep broccoli fresh in the fridge. All that you have to do is placing the broccoli in a pot of water with the stem inside the water and the broccoli out of it. Carrot & Broccoli Salad Recipe:
The preparation time for making this salad is around 15 minutes and the total time should not exceed 30 minutes. You can easily make it at home with some easy steps below. It is a low calories diet, a perfect appetizer, and a firestarter for any meal.
Ingredients:
- Carrot – 1 piece.
- 100 gms of broccoli (chopped)
- Cumin powder – a teaspoon.
- 1 tablespoon of lime juice
- Virgin olive oil – 3 teaspoons
- A cup of water
- Mustard seeds – a teaspoon
- Pepper powder -a teaspoon
- Coriander leaves to taste a few chopped
Process:
- Peel the carrot. It should be either sliced or diced.
- Heat a pan of water over the medium flame.
- Add the broccoli to the water on the stove and cook for a minute or two at most. The broccoli should be tender.
- Also, add the carrots to it. Both carrot and broccoli should be left to simmer for around 30 to 60 seconds.
- Heat the olive oil in a pan.
- Fried the mustard seeds for around 20 seconds. You must add the cumin powder to it
- Remove the mustard seeds and the cumin power after 10 seconds and transfer them to a bowl.
- Then add salt, pepper powder, and lemon juice. It should be mixed well.
- Removed the carrot and broccoli from the flame, the water must be drained and transferred to a bowl.
- Poured the dressing of mustard powder, cumin powder, salt, and lemon juice over the carrot and broccoli.
