The First Indian Athlete Neeraj Chopra To Wins Gold In World Athletics Championship

Neeraj Chopra became the first Indian athlete who won the gold medal at the World Athletics Championships. It’s a historic moment for India as well as Indian athletics. The ‘golden boy of Indian athletics’ yet again won another gold in men’s javelin putting India’s name on the world forum .

The event was held in Budapest, Hungary on 28th August as he competed with other athletes. He was able to record a throw of 88.17 meters in his second attempt that solidified his position in the javelin event. This achievement is first for any Indian athlete in this event.

His outstanding performance has not only secured him a gold medal but also helped him establish himself as a trailblazer in Indian sports at global stage.

Satish Kumar, Neeraj’s father was proud of his son’s achievement and said, “This is a very proud moment for our country as we got a gold medal in the World Championship as well. We will celebrate once Neeraj comes back to India.”

Congratulatory messages poured in for Neeraj’s victory from all corners of India. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the ‘golden boy’ on X platform (formerly Twitter) saying, “The talented @Neeraj_Chopra1 exemplifies excellence. His dedication, precision and passion make him not just a champion in athletics but a symbol of unparalleled excellence in the entire sports world. Congrats to him for winning the Gold at the World Athletics Championships.”

Anurag Thakur, the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports of India hailed Neeraj’s achievement as a moment to be remembered in India’s sporting history. He expressed his pride and appreciation on the athlete’s achievement on social media.

Arshad Nadeem, a Pakistani athlete secured the silver medal in the Championship. Nadeem trailed close behind Chopra with a throw of 87.82 meters.

The third position was secured by Czech Republican Jakub Vadlejch with a record throw of 86.67 meters.
