Shakira And Fuerza Regida Joint Single “El Jefe” Defends The Working Class

Shakira and Fuerza Regida joint single “TheBoss” or “El Jefe” defends the working class by telling off bad bosses around the world in their new music video. Shakira sings the song over an acoustic and guitar-driven beat, “You’re dreaming of leaving the barrio, you have everything it takes to be a millionaire, expensive taste, the mentality, you’re just missing a salary.”

While Jesus Ortiz Paz who is the frontman of Fuerza Regida joins in the song, “Being poor is trash, my mom always told me studying would secure everything but I studied and nothing happened.”

The music video of “The Boss” alludes to the efforts and struggles of the working class. At one point in the music video members of Fuerza Regida heads appear on a silver platter in front of men in suits. While Shakira is seen wearing a monochromatic red outfit on top of a horse in the beginning of the video.

Then she joins a dance part with Fuerza Regida singing to the lyrics depicting the struggle of the working class. While Latin Grammy’s most-nominated artist Edgar Barrera, songwriter-producer makes a guest appearance in the dance party. Shakira and Karol G tied at the Latin Grammys as the most-nominated female artist.

The new song and the music video arrived weeks after Shakira’s performance at 2023 MTV VMAs (American Music Awards). Shakira performed some of her timeless hit songs like “Hips Don’t Lie” and “She Wolf” on 20th September at 2023 VMAs.

The night was extra special for Shakira as she received the MTV’s Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award becoming the first South American artist to get this award.

Shakira has been releasing her singles rapidly with the latest single being “Copa Vacia ” that features Manuel Turizo. For song of the year award Skakira has been nominated three times for “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53,” “Acróstico” and “TQG.”
