I am sure that even when we all have read and watched the Harry Potter series and books, there are still these little elements that we completely miss in all our excitement. One such thing is that even though Headmaster Dumbledore tasked Harry with finding all the Horcruxes, seven different wizards destroyed them!

Quite shocking. Or is it the magic of J.K. Rowling who created this world of magic and put minute details to such an extent that we are still theorizing and discovering things?

As we fall more in love with the magic world, let’s delve into the background of the seven Horcruxes and who destroyed them! You may discover more such surprises along the way! You will also find some information related to Dumbledore and Grindelwald!

Who Was Tom Riddle?

Tom Marvolo Riddle la, known as Voldemort on his mother’s side, was born in the House Gaunt. The Gaunts were the last living descendants of Salazar Slytherine, the founder of the House Slytherine in the Hogwarts school. On his father’s side, however, there was no magic.

His father is known as Tom Riddle, a muggle living in a village quite close to the house of Merope, Voldemort’s mother. It is suspected that she used a love potion to manipulate Riffle into loving her and later getting married. However, when she became pregnant with Voldemort, Riddle left her!

She went to a Muggle Orphanage where she birthed Voldemort, named him after his father and her father (Marvolo), and soon died. Riddle grew up in the orphanage, clearly in neglect, and grew up bitter. When he learned about his lineage, he hated them and took up the new name, “Lord Voldemort”!

The character of Harry Potter becomes much more interesting because of the presence of the Voldemore. Having an unbeatable opponent makes us more sympathetic towards Harry! Find out more about the Horcruxes to learn how the unbeatable was defeated!

Tom Riddle’s Diary Destroyed By Harry Potter

This is the first Horcrux with Lucious Malfoy, who put it in the bag of Ginny Weasly so it reaches Hogwarts! Through this diary, the soul of Tom Riddle came out to unleash the Basilisk, the monster of Slytherin.

Harry knew nothing about Horcruxes then, but Dumbledore started realizing it from that moment onwards! Harry uses the Sword of Gryffindor to kill the Basilisk while its fangs are used to destroy the Horcrux!

Marvolo Gaunt’s Ring Destroyed By Albus Dumbledore

A ring that was again tied to Voldemort’s family and also contained the Resurrection stone was made into a horcrux by Voldemort! He murdered his father and grandparents, thus using those deaths to create the Horcrux. He also used a false memory charm on his uncle to take the blame!

It was Albus Dumbledore who destroyed the ring. However, it cursed him, leading to slow poisoning! This led to Dumbledore confessing to Snape and giving him the responsibility to guide Harry in the future.

However, even Snape did not know the whole theory of the Horcruxes and how Dumbledore was creating a web where Voldemort would finally fall trap! During Grindelwald’s rise in the magical world, Voldemort was just a little boy. Imagine him growing up to become what he did!

Salazar Slytherin’s Locket By Ron Weasley

The Locket belonged to the Gaunt family and was an heirloom. Unfortunately, it was sold by Voldemort’s mother when she was trying to make ends meet once Riddle left her! The horcrox was then taken from Twelve Grimmauld Place, and Kreacher, the house elf of the Black’s, tried to destroy it!

Mundugus Fletcher stole it, and then Dolores Umbridge got her hands on it! Finally, it was destroyed by Ron using the Sword of Gryffindor in the forest where they constantly traveled to protect themselves from Death eaters.

Helga Hufflepuff’s Cup By Hermoine Granger

Another Horcrux, a cup belonging to Helga Hufflepuff, another founder of Hogwarts school, was created by Voldemort! It was kept in a safe with Bellatrix Lestrange, who kept it in her vault at Gringotts, thus keeping it completely secure.

However, after Harry, Ron, and Hermoine escape the Malfoy manor, they realize that Bellatrix has gone completely ballistic when she hears that her vaults might not be safe. This led the trio to enter the vault with the help of Griphook, a Goblin.

They found the cup, and later, Hermoine Granger destroyed it in the Basilisk’s lair using one of his fangs, accompanied by Ron!

Rowena Ravenclaw’s Diadem By Gregory Goyle

The diadem of Rowena Ravenclaw was destroyed, but of course, there was a wizard involved! The diadem belonged to one of the founders of the Hogwarts school, and Voldemort used it for his benefit, tainting it with dark magic. Voldemort then hid the diadem in the room of requirements!

It was a feindfyre curse that Vincent Crabbe did in the Harry Potter books, destroying the room of requirements, including the diadem! However, in the movie, the makers chose Gregory Goyle, who was more consistently present as a sidekick to Draco Malfoy, to create the curse.

Furthermore, Harry stabbed the diadem with the Basilisk’s fang while Ron kicked it into the room’s fire, thus destroying it.

The Boy or Harry Potter By Tom Riddle

Harry Potter is a Horcrux that Voldemort made by mistake as he attempted to kill Harry Potter as a baby! After the prediction that Harry could kill Voldemort, the Dark Lord went to kill him, but his mother, Lily, cast herself between them, protecting Harry.

This led to the death of Lily while a piece of the Dark Lord’s soul attacked itself with Harry! The lightning-shaped scar was then a constant companion of Harry, along with the power of sharing thoughts with the Dark Lord and speaking Parcelmouth!

The Dark Lord himself killed the soul inside of Harry! Dumbledore figured it out and planned everything, letting Snape into some of the confidential private information so that Snape would guide Harry in his absence!

Harry had to be the master of death before he went on to get killed by Voldemort; only then can the destruction of the Horcrux inside Harry be destroyed!

The Snake, Nagini By Neville Longbottom

The last one to be made, Peter Pettigrew in Albania, bumped into Bertha Jorkins, an employee at the Ministry of Magic! During that time, Voldemort was still weak, so after the murder of Bertha, he created another Horcrux.

It was in the woods that Bertha was killed while Nagini was created. It is one of the scariest Horcrux because it has the power to attack you or eat you! Nagini was the last Horcrux to be killed as Neville Longbottom used the sword of Gryffindor in the previous battle of Hogwarts.

Finishing Off…
