Proper skincare has long been extolled by skincare specialists and practitioners, and with the right skincare routine – along with the right products – you can have skin that looks (and feels) younger, suppler, and healthier overall. But beautiful skin doesn’t come easy – you have to be committed to a good routine that promotes your skin’s wellness and encourages rejuvenation, and you have to be picky when it comes to choosing the products you use for your skin as well. 1. Always protect yourself from the rays of the sun

Yes, we all love spending time in the sun, particularly when it’s summer and the weather is great. But spending plenty of time in the sun – even just walking around – can cause harm to the skin. So the first and foremost tip for enhancing your skin and protecting it is to use the right products that can both protect you from wrinkles and age spots but also from the risk of developing skin cancer.

Sunscreen is a must if you spend even just an hour outdoors, but make sure you choose a sunscreen with a broad spectrum and at least an SPF of 15. Apply it as generously as possible, and if you are spending an entire day under the sun, reapply it every couple of hours. Avoid being exposed to the sun from 10 am to 4 pm as well, as this is when the sun’s rays are at their strongest. You can also wear the right clothing that can cover and protect your skin, such as shirts or blouses with long sleeves, long trousers, and hats with wide brims.

2. Be gentle with your skin

Here’s another tip that not many of us are mindful of, but it makes a vast difference as well: be gentle with your skin. Daily baths can certainly affect your skin’s moisture, for instance, so you can be gentler with your skin by avoiding soaps that are too strong and limiting the time you spend in the bath. If you like to spend an inordinate amount of time in a hot shower or soak for too long in the bath, this can strip away your skin’s oils; you should also opt for warm water rather than hot. If you have to shave, do it as carefully as possible, and make sure to apply lotion, gel, or shaving cream prior to shaving. Use only sharp and clean razors and shave in the hair’s direction and never against it. Once you are done with your shower or bath, don’t rub your skin dry – simply blot or pat it gently, so a bit of moisture stays on it. 3. Watch what you eat

What you eat may also have a direct impact on your skin’s health and appearance, and a healthy diet is best.
