In 2020 popular singer Megan Thee Stallion was shot by fellow rapper Tory Lanez who was found guilty. Lanez was set to be sentenced this Monday, but the hearing stretched onto Tuesday. Tory Lanez was found guilty of three accounts related to the shooting of the artist Stallion.
Tory Lanez’s legal name is Daystar Peterson, who wounded Megan Thee Stallion in 2020 by shooting her in the feet. The sentencing on Monday was set to put an end to the three-year-long fight in the courts.
The singer Stallion’s shooting was discussed all over social media and gossip blogs. Prosecutors of the case have asked for 13 years of prison for the rapper Lanez in the case of firing shots at Stallion.
They have also described the “campaign of misinformation” about the shooting incident that was waged through hip-hop blogs. This campaign questioned singer Megan Thee Stallion’s credibility about the shooting incident and showed support for the rapper instead.
The defense of Lanez called for a drug treatment program in-house and probation for the rapper instead of jail time. The defense says this will help the rapper deal with his alcoholism caused by childhood trauma.
The singer Megan Thee Stallion in a written statement to the court, says she has suffered daily since the day she was shot. She says, “Since I was viciously shot by the defendant, I have not experienced a single day of peace.”
Also adds, “Slowly but surely, I’m healing and coming back, but I will never be the same.” She has asked the court not to take her absence from the court as a sign of indifference, saying, simply could not bring myself to be in a room with Tory again.”
Also, she has urged the judge of this case, David Herriford, to issue a stiff sentence.
